Tesla Window Tint in San Antonio: LLumar Options, Texas Law, and Your Quote

The right Tesla tint decision starts with the exact film, the glass you want treated, and a measured legal result. PLM offers LLumar window tint starting at $295, with all LLumar lines available and the final quote determined by your vehicle, selected film, shade, glass coverage, and removal work (PLM pricing).

That starting price is not a promised all-glass Tesla or ceramic-film package. Ask for a written quote naming the series, shade, individual glass areas, preparation or removal, and installed total before choosing a package (PLM pricing).

Choose a product, not just a dark shade

LLumar ATC is a dyed window film, while LLumar's ceramic range uses nano-ceramic technology and offers different shades and heat-rejection levels (LLumar ATC, LLumar ceramic films). ATC should not be described as a carbon film, and “ceramic” should not be treated as one identical specification across every product.

LLumar describes its ceramic films as reducing heat and glare and providing UV protection, but those benefits do not establish a guaranteed cabin-temperature drop or Tesla range improvement (LLumar ceramic films). PLM's Tesla guidance likewise distinguishes total solar energy rejection from infrared-rejection figures and makes no fixed energy-saving or range promise (PLM Tesla tint guidance).

Ask to compare the exact product and shade using the same performance measure and test basis. Our recommendation is to choose from documented specifications, a legal installation plan, and your visibility preferences rather than a single large percentage on a sales card.

Texas tint rules: measure the glass and film together

Texas DPS specifies combined original-glass-and-film measurements for the regulated windows; a film's nominal shade is not the complete legal test (Texas DPS window tinting standards). Visible light transmission, or VLT, describes how much visible light passes through, so ask the installer to evaluate the final combination rather than relying on the film label alone.

Glass area What the DPS guidance says
Front side windows beside the driver At least 25% light transmission and no more than 25% luminous reflectance, measured with original glass and film together, unless an applicable exemption applies (Texas DPS).
Rear side windows Exempt from these Texas tint restrictions; this is not a sedan-versus-SUV distinction (Texas DPS).
Rear window No tint restriction under this rule when an outside mirror on each side provides a view of the roadway at least 200 feet behind; otherwise the 25% minimum transmission and 25% maximum reflectance apply (Texas DPS).
Windshield tinted strip Above the AS-1 line; if no line is present, it must end five inches below the windshield's top, with at least 25% combined transmission, no more than 25% reflectance, and no red, amber, or blue coloration (Texas DPS).
Clear, untinted windshield UV film DPS separately permits clear, untinted UV film anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption (Texas DPS).

Do not treat a product described as “light,” “70%,” “80%,” or “ceramic” as proof that it meets the clear, untinted windshield provision. Have the precise product and application checked against the DPS requirements before approving the work.

For the front-side medical exception, DPS calls for a signed statement from a licensed physician or optometrist identifying the driver or occupant and the medical need, with the statement kept in the vehicle (Texas DPS). A shop waiver is not that documentation; consult the PLM Texas tint-law guide and current official guidance if an exception is relevant.

Treat the windshield, roof, and rear glass as separate decisions

PLM's Tesla guidance calls for checking the exact model year, factory glass, roof compatibility, coverage, and vehicle-system considerations before quoting (PLM Tesla tint guidance). The practical lesson is not to assume that a quote for “Tesla tint” covers every piece of glass or that every surface should receive the same film.

  • Side windows: Ask which windows are included and how the chosen shade will be evaluated on the existing glass.
  • Rear glass: Confirm the exact treated area, mirror-related legal conditions, and any installation details you want explained.
  • Roof glass: Ask whether the proposed film is suitable for the particular glass and what written conditions apply.
  • Windshield: Resolve legal suitability separately, rather than adding an unspecified full-windshield tint to a package.
  • Cameras and sensors: Ask how the planned work follows relevant vehicle and film guidance without obstructing required views.

These are scope questions, not promises that every item is included. Put the answers into the written quote and discuss any exclusions before work begins.

What your written Tesla tint quote should include

PLM's published pricing asks customers to confirm the exact film, shade, windows covered, removal charges, and installed total, with warranty terms tied to the product installed (PLM pricing). Our recommended checklist adds the model year, tax treatment, legal measurement plan, glass compatibility questions, and estimated completion window.

Ask for the applicable film warranty and installation terms rather than assuming the film warranty covers every vehicle system or possible glass concern. LLumar describes manufacturer limited-warranty coverage and notes restrictions, while PLM's Tesla guidance cautions against blanket vehicle-system assurances (LLumar ceramic films, PLM Tesla tint guidance).

Questions Tesla owners should ask

Can I tint an entire Tesla for $295?

PLM's $295 language is the general LLumar window-tint starting point, not an all-glass Tesla quote (PLM pricing). Confirm the vehicle, film, covered glass, removal, and total in writing.

Is LLumar ATC a carbon tint?

No: LLumar identifies ATC as dyed window tint (LLumar ATC). Ask for the exact series name so comparisons do not depend on an incorrect category label.

Does darker tint automatically mean better heat performance?

Use product specifications rather than darkness alone: LLumar's ceramic products are offered in different shades and heat-rejection levels (LLumar ceramic films). Compare the exact products, then confirm legal suitability for each glass area.

Is a full-windshield ceramic installation automatically legal?

No: DPS distinguishes restricted windshield sunscreening from the separate allowance for clear, untinted UV film (Texas DPS). A ceramic label or nominal transmission percentage does not, by itself, establish compliance.

Will aftermarket tint affect my Tesla warranty?

Do not rely on a blanket promise either way. Ask for the applicable Tesla warranty terms and film documentation to be reviewed for your vehicle and the proposed work before proceeding.

Request a quote for your Tesla

Review PLM's Tesla tint information and window-tint service, then request a written quote. Send your model, year, desired glass coverage, existing-film details, and whether comfort, glare, privacy, or appearance is your main priority.

PLM's appointment process requires the shop to confirm scope, price, and availability rather than treating the request as a completed booking (PLM Tesla tint information). For more background, read the ceramic-versus-standard tint guide and learn about the Journal on the About page.
